Q: I just got a ticket for running a yellow light, how is that possible?

A: Unfortunately this is one of those cases that can get anyone, MCL 257.612 states in part, " ...vehicular traffic facing the signal shall stop before entering the nearest crosswalk at the intersection or at a limit line when marked, but if the stop cannot be made in safety, a vehicle may be driven cautiously through the intersection."

Taking My Own Advice

Almost two years ago, I found myself in a funny situation; I had just received a $970.00 traffic infraction from a Multnomah County Sheriff outside Portland, Oregon while on vacation. To date this is the highest traffic fine I have ever seen, and it was my own. The breakdown was as follows: 79 in a 65 $400.00, Unlawful Lane/Change, $170.00, and Careless Driving $400.00, the actual ticket has been attached as an image file and hangs in my office.
